At a distance of 14 kms from Mahabalipuram, Thirukkalukundram is known for Vedagirishvara Temple, a small temple devoted to Lord Shiva located on a 160 meter hill.
The priest within the temple feeds a pair of white eagles, that are stated to be saints. The eagles journey from Varanasi and Rameswaram whereas touring they nest on this hill temple throughout a selected time within the midday. No different eagles and birds attend this feast.
There’s a bigger shiva temple within the village situated beneath the hill. One can take a view of the countryside from the hill tops which are a magnet for the devotees.
