At a distance of 101 Kms from Coimbatore and 13 Kms from Erode, the well-known Sangameswarar Temple in Bhavani (in Erode district) is located on the confluence of the Rivers Bhavani and Cauvery.
Devoted to Lord Shiva, this temple homes Lord Sangameshwarar together with his consort Vedanayaki. Constructed on a four acre land, the temple has a 5 tier tower on northern facet. Throughout the East India Firm regime the then Collector of Coimbatore and Salem Districts, William Garrow, used to worship Goddess Vedanayaki of Bhavani. He offered an ivory cradle to the temple, which remains to be within the temple, together with his signature.
There’s a separate shrine for Lord vishnu on this temple.
