At a distance of 20 kms from Kannyakumari (located in Nagarcoil city, on Trivandrum – Kanyakumari street), The Nagaraja Temple is a straightforward thatched shed, with mud partitions.
It enshrines the King of Serpents. Custom states {that a} King of Kalakkad was cured of leprosy when he carried out penance within the temple. He then rebuilt it within the Kerala type. He might need been Bhuthalavira Sri Vira Udaya Marthandavarma, who dominated Venad, with Kalakkad because the capital. It’s believed that snakebite is just not deadly inside a kilometer of the temple.
