Sanjeev was born and brought up in Chennai,and he is the nephew of late actress Manjula Vijayakumar. He completed his graduation in Visual Communications at Loyola College, Chennai. Sanjeev made his acting debut in 1989 Tamil film Ponmana Selvan as a child artist. The actor made his breakthrough into grownup films when he starred alongside actor Vijay in quite a few movies. He entered Television Serial Industry and appeared in numerous serials.
In 2007 he carried out the lead role in Thirumathi Selvam, which is taken under consideration to be his breakthrough inside the TV serial industry. He turned as a popular television host by hosting a Dance reality show Maanada Mayilada on Kalaignar TV, which is directed by Kala master on 2007. Sanjeev at current doing the principle place in Zee Tamil’s Yaaradi Nee Mohini serial along with Chaitra Reddy. In 2009, Sanjeev married television actress, Preethi Srinivasan.
